Stainless Steel vs. Teflon

I used to have Teflon cookware and Annodized Steel cookware. But after all the hype that I read on the long term, not so good effects of Teflon on the body, I decided to switch to Stainless Steel. It took me a while to take the plunge....it was like getting married for me. I am a very thrifty person that's why I weigh everything first. I don't mind spending if I know it's going to last me for a long time, and if I know it's good quality.

To be living in the age of the internet is such a blessing that I can do research online without getting out of my pajamas. Of course you already know that or you wouldn't be a blogger yourself. I am not going to discredit one or the other, I will just tell you what worked for me. After a few days researching online and going to the stores to physically touch and feel the cookware, and of course budget is a consideration, I feel I found the Stainless Steel of choice----Kenmore by Sears. Who knew Kenmore made cookware? It's really heavy with a thick bottom, and although I cannot remember exactly how much I paid for it, I think I paid around $120 for a 12 piece set. I think it's been almost three years since I bought these and they are still looking good. Don't get me wrong, I still own a couple of Teflon pans which I use when I'm in a hurry. But Stainless is my cookware of choice even for eggs. Yes, you can fry an egg on stainless!!!

Now the true question is: How do you cook with Stainless Steel? The answer is in my next blog on tips and tricks. See you in a few. -GG-
